Out of most of the health problems that tend to affect us, the ones involving our teeth are the likely the most preventable. A few daily tasks and preventative measures will help you maintain good oral hygiene over many years.

However just because your parents put these simple tasks in place does not mean that you will carry through over the years and keep them up. So we I really hope you are not getting lazy with your daily oral hygiene routines, and if so I would like to leave you with some proper techniques to carry out your oral hygiene. Here are some tips:

How to Brush Your Teeth

Brushing your teeth daily is a very important aspect to remove food particles, loosen the gums, remove plaque and ofcourse freshen up your breath. Brushing your teeth also helps prevent against future cavities and any kind of oral disease. Brushing your teeth in circular motions is also very important and do not forget to brush your tongue.

How To Floss

Making sure you floss regularly is very important and is the best defense against getting gum disease. It also fights cavities and decay. Make sure you are perfecting your flossing technique so you can remove all debris between your teeth which will prevent gingivitis and decay. Don't buy cheap dental floss, buy something that is good.

How to Whiten Teeth

If the teeth stains on your teeth are very minimal you mite be able to have your dentist clean them off during a regular cleaning. Some stains may require more aggressive cleaning or bleaching, this is why regularly brushing and flossing is very important to prevent these types of things in the beginning. Professional whitening and at home whitening kits can be a very effective means of returning your teeth back to a white colour.

How Your Diet Can Help your Teeth

A great way to get strong, healthy teeth, is to have a good diet. Make sure you eat foods that are rich in calcium, vitamin C, vitamin D, and flouride. Most tap water has flouride in it which is better than bottled water for your teeth. Try to stay away from foods that are sugary and starchy, these foods will only contribute to oral bacteria. This type of diet will only lead you to a mouth full of decay, even if your brushing everyday.

Visit your Dentist

Try not to shy away from visiting your dentist, he is there to help you and help you maintain healthy oral hygiene. It is a must to go in for a dental cleaning atleast once a year, this allows the dentist to remove tartar from your teeth and also polish your teeth's surface. This will make it harder for plaque and tartar to build up on your teeth which can cause problems. The dentist will also examine your gums and mouth and search for any problems he mite see.

Putting these measures into place can save you from expensive dental bills from filings, cavities or cosmetic dental whitening. So keep your teeth clean and remember an apple a day will keep the doctor and dentist away.
