We all have been desperately surfing for a long time now hoping to find the most up to date website optimization tactics across the web. But who truely understands how it all works? Let's face it, it is not likely that the owners of the search engines are going to let us in on the secret. If they did then it would become saturated with too many websites made too similar trying to manipulate the search engines in there favor. So what do you listen to when you do find advice? I say what ever works that does not get you kicked off by the search engines.
See, I have heard just about everything there is to know about SEO. Tricks like bolding and italicizing keywords is suppose to help but how much. Applying this by itself will not get you far. I see people linking their keyword phrases to websites like dictionary sites but that works for them and does not help you any. This is one of the answers of why their websites can mostly be found on page one of most search phrases. Then there is the issue of keyword density. Some believe ten percent or so of text should hold your keywords and others want more used. Sure, you can't simply add in your keywords 50 times in all your articles but how much will hurt you?
Now there is also the idea that suggest that you should have your main keyword phrase be apart of your url. This strategy can be useful to some sites but there are lots of websites that can get listed above them without the keyword phrase being used what so ever. So doing this does not make it that simple. There has to be more to it.
Search Engines still look at your meta tags title and descriptions. Or you can have the search bots decide what to pull up. As for me I choose the meta tags because my results are better. For those who do not then be sure to put what you want to be ranked for in the first view sentences of content to make it easy for the search bots to learn what your website is about.
What about all those sneaky tricks for search engine optimization some site owners try to slip pass us. You know tricks like filling a page with really small text packed with keyword phrases or stuffing tons of keyword phrases in alternative text code in pictures. That stuff succeed for a specific time and then you get sent to like page 600 or worse. There is no way I would advice using these scams.
It looks like exciting new text with backlinks from reliable websites are still the most important thing to do. Updating your pages routinely will keep the search bots coming back for more. One way links will let them know how admired your site is. But your links should come from different kind of websites that are related to yours. Be sure to mix things up a bit with solid links from forums, review sites, videos, blogs, article directories and others. There are other things that can be done but these are two of the top SEO things you should do.
I could keep going on for days about what others tell webmasters about how to SEO a site but There is no point. You should search for what gets you to the top and when it does then recreate it for all of your sites and all inner pages you have. With a little effort you could end up having a site on top in a short month or so
